Finally saw Watchmen yesterday. Brilliant! I think we have ourselves the Blade Runner of our time here, something that might be overlooked or not the giant success they were hoping for right away, but certainly a film that will stand as a pinnacle of sci-fi / superhero movies for decades to come! The shear brilliance in detail, effects and the attention to each individual storyline is absolutely jaw-dropping.
The beauty and surreal world that has been created, populated with magnificent characters and the cleverly referencing of real world events and people is something that a lot of movie makers could learn something from. Off course, the raw material of the film is nothing less than one of the greatest comics of all time, and yet, the film remains true in soul and heart, to it’s epic origin. One top of this is one of the best musical scores I have heard in a long time, as well as top level acting and perfect editing.
The Watchmen will be remembered as one of the truly stunning moments of movie history, and one, that like Blade Runner, shall be watched over and over again by generations to come. Basically, if you haven’t seen it, make sure you do.
Why do I always get stuck with MAC 600s? True, they blend colors nicely and the light output ain’t bad. But they’re “state of the art” technology that’s 10 years old! Time to swap them out for something else? I think so. Soundtrack today: Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca.
Have I mentioned how good a tv show the west wing is? I mean. Wow. Martin Sheen kicks ass! Its true, I’m an addict. On season 5 now, next one up is episode 3. If you haven’t seen it.. start watching!
Wow. That seems to be the best way of describing this masterpiece of a movie. It is many years since I last saw a film that was so well carried out, both technically and artisticly. And, one that touched me like it did on friday night. The film, apart from it magnificent technical production, flawless script and perfect music, stars Brad Pitt as the films main character, Benjamin, and one of my all time favourite actresses, Cate Blanchett as the love of his life, Daisy.
But besides entertainment, what the film really does, is remind us of how important it is not to cave in and give up even if we aren’t dealt the best set of cards. Even if Button never set out to be great or achieve big things, and he didn’t, not in the conventional manner anyway, he did things that to him were great enough, he lived a good life even though he knew it was to be an incredibly sad ending at the end of it… he walked away from his lifes soulmate so that she could be happy even after he was gone. He learned to love so much, that he sacrificed his own love for his loved one. And yet, he moved on, he saw the world and didn’t let himself fall victim to anger or sorrow. A lesson is to be learned then, from this curious character that is Benjamin Button; we don’t know what’s comming our way, but the only thing we can do about it, is our best.
It’s a good film year I reckon, and now Watchmen’s out as well!
Wow, so stuff is really happening here. Now we have something that is beginning to resemble a design in some form, the K2 is really starting to prove it’s worth as a theme! Obviously, I’m not close to finished yet, but at least it’s starting to look how I want it to be.
www.multitechnic.no is finally complete and online. The last bit of the DNS re-point was finished at 16.43 today, and the website was tested on an external system and found working perfectly at 18.00 CET. Now I can finally move on to some other projects that have been on old for too long…
This will be all for today, some writing energy is needed over at the BLS blog, come take a look!
So, we spent the latter part of last week in Liverpool with some friends. Was nice to see everyone again, catch up on the latest and just to have a few days off, enjoying good food, nice weather and a pleasant company! It always makes me think… how things just move on, your home for 3 years can still perfectly go on without you. It seems to be the way of things… perhaps we get connected to plases more than they connect to us?
Back in Oslo now. Which means back to work. Trying to gather some more ideas, but my head seem to have run out. Bought a magazine, and hopefully that will get me some inspiration or the mental boost I need to complete some important parts… finished www.multitechnic.no today, up and running with a shiny new wordpress installation with custom theme! Take a look if you’re interested, pretty happy about it myself. Bult ocmpletely around XHTML, PHP, JavaScripts and CSS. Obviously it’s standards compliant down to the last letter.
The actual design of IRL will take some time though, but I like it somehow, the default setting of K2 isn’t bad at all. And it seems to fit my random head quite well I think. Maybe some adjustments here and there, but overall… a really nice theme. Mental work is also going on for www.brookfieldlodge.org, but as we are still debating content, it’s difficult to come up with something incredibly usefull. I’m thinking it might be easiest just to move the blog, extend it to a full-size website and redesign it a bit, so that it becomes an integral part of the site. Time will tell. And keep your eyes on masterfade.com, things are happening!
